RoboRally Arena II Unofficial Webpage: http://members.tripodnet.nl/Seedling/ArenaII/ Which includes the Official Rules Webpage: http://webxxx.schlund.de/cgi-bin/pbeme.pl?game=roborall Competition 1 Round 3 TURN ONE PROGRAM CARDS ARE DUE: 0900 GMT, Monday, April 9, 2001. Recipiants: - All active 'bots in this round only. Contents: - Instructions. - Pre Round and Turn One Comments. - Current 'bots and email addresses. - Current board. - Randomised list of program cards. - Options available at the end of the turn. - Notes. * Instructions. First look at the list of current 'bots to find your 'bot reference (ref) name (it is a four character (max) abbreviation of your 'bot name). Check your 'bot status, 'in waiting' means not active this round, 'active' means active this round and this turn, 'fragged' means active this round, but not this turn, 'retired' means active in a previous round, but never again. Then find your 'bot location (x88x format) and go to the current board to find it. **NOTE: It is probably easier to see the game progress by having a physical board set up to keep track of movement. To find your program cards you need three things. Firstly the list of program cards, secondly the number of program cards to be dealt (see Current 'bots) and thirdly the program card code (to be sent seperately). This private code is a list of 20 numbered references. To find your current program cards look at your 'bots code numbers. It will be a list similar to: example code list 1-1 2-63 3-32 4-81 5-15 6-57 7-43 8-66 9-65 10-42 11-21 12-78 13-10 14-82 15-56 16-73 17-49 18-19 19-11 20-37 Find the number of cards that are to be dealt to your 'bot this turn (ie: nine for an undamaged 'bot with no options), The numbers before the hyphen (-) are to correspond with the number of cards to be dealt. So the nine (say) cards to be chosen from the list of program cards (as indicated by the number after the hyphen) are the first, the 63rd, the 32nd, the 81st, the 15th, the 57th, the 43rd, the 66th and the 65th. The program card list for turn one is available in this document. Choose an option from the list. Submit turn program and option choice in the format: X-88##() X-88##() X-88##() X-88##() X-88##() () () * Pre Round and Turn One Comments: Scourge's missile is at m11e, and Blighted's mine is at L5, reactivation of Pivot, Herbie and Cliffhanger who already have a bit of advanced weaponry so watch out. This is true for all situations, there is a table for each turn and all other 'bot information should agree with it or the other information is wrong. Toby will now accept the LAST program submission before the deadline and will also repsond to programming that seems in error or is incorrectly formatted. this should stop a repeat of the events of previous rounds where bots have been fragged thanks to rather pedantic rule adhesion and all too common mistakes by Toby. no response can be guaranteed but a turn submission on or before the saturday before the deadline should get attention and any forseen problems can be attended too. it remains untenable though that AFTER turn resolution there can be no changes. the TURN REPORT is the official cut off .. up until that Toby may accept late submissions but that cannot be guaranteed. once the turn report has been generated though there will be no alteration to the official table. everything and anything in the OFFICIAL TABLE is absolutely unchangable (the issue can be corrected for the NEXT official table however). this only includes the number of cards dealt and 'bot location and status. any other bot details can be clarified with Toby. ---- some things missed from Arena 1,2,5 bot options awarded after turn 5: Petit Metal - fire control (5) requested and parted with to complement the mechanical arm, shield & big gun (5) Herbie - shield requested and donated to go with the High Power Laser, reflector & the big one (0) Cliffhanger - shield requested and handed out to go with ramming gear, mechanical arm & double barrel laser Blighted - Ablative coat requested and given to go with shield & mine layer (2) also petit metal did a bit more damage than was reported: Damage Done to: (2) Herbie 1 (4) Cliffhanger 1 (7) SQUIDBOT 7 All: 9 Others: 9 Self: 0 Damage Received: 6 Fragged: SQUIDBOT Statistical Report: Total Damage: All: 61 Others: 53 Self: 8 Total Movement: 196 Total Frags: 2 any other incongruities will be adjusted and any repositioning will be actioned. in this case the missed damage does not affect the outcome of the round. if it did then the positions would be changed (final positions are not included in the official table so are contestable). CONTENTS LAST CHANGED IN THE RULES DOCUMENT. http://webxxx.schlund.de/cgi-bin/pbeme.pl?game=roborall RULES - The Objective. * Re-definition of first and second. - Wrap Effects. * Laser fire no longer wraps. - Options. * Declaring options to block damage. * No option doubles. * Shield, turret and reflector programming. TURN REQUIREMENTS. * Submission formats. ---- >I've been looking over the revised rules. Did I read it correctly, when I read >that a 'bot, that survived a round and wasn't a puck, can attempt another round >in the same competition without damage? that is correct .. though new entries receive priority up to a point .. >Well, I got already got Mecha-Tama lined up for round 3, though if the above >is indeed true, then Twonky and possibly some other round 1 and 2 survivors make >a comeback :) sure .. >I'm NOT gonna quote a certain 'Terminator' >Hmmm... Round 4 could be made a standard round for surviving robots. >(Empty places will be filled by new bots with random options, or the map >reduced, like the GF?) id rather we had entirely new fields .. but .. hmm .. hows the advertising going? >hehe... I'm advertising all over the globe :) >I made a post on a Dutch messageboard. >http://www.dutchrobotwars.com/ >Oh, it's Dutch off course ^_^ >I shoot you, you shoot me >That's the way in a tourney >With a push, pit, missile whack, >With a The-Big-One, all the others will be gone. >Oh, I also noticed the note in the rules about the option from Mecha-Tama. Did >the High Power Pulse Laser qualify, or should I device another? >Like this one: >Vengence Laser >-------------- >Optional Weapon >Damage: 0-4 >Description: >The Vengence Laser is a weapon of retaliation. If a 'bot has previously >damaged the owner of this option, and it happens to stray into the path of this >bot again, the Vengence Laser will do an equal amount (up to 4) of damage back. >Thus, if target bot hasn't damaged the owner of this option, it will receive no >damage. Once the Vengence Laser has been fired, the grudge against the target >robot has dissipated, and any future shots with it will do 0 damage, UNLESS >owner of this option has again been hit by that 'bot. i LIKE it .. is it allrite if i go with this one? its so appropriate too .. hehe >Sure ^_^ I knew you would like it. this new option will be added after round 3 ---- >Oh, I did do it right by placing the mine and missile on the board >for round 3, right? Those weapons still need to be resolved, but >I'm not sure if you'll keep em around. you did right .. they WILL be resolved. unless the competition ends then they are removed >Oh, please tell me the ref for 20MinuteLoop is MiLo ^_^ >Then I'm gonna use a stick to coax him into a pit. ^,^ 20ML .. as defined by owner. ---- >Weird situation with Blighted.... >When did that Big One go off? According to the rules, it goes of >before phase #1. Meaning the shield MUST have faced west to even >consider damage-wrapping. hmm .. the shield was set in the right direction by blighted to stop the blast. that was for phase one though and the big one goes off "at the start of the turn" i seem to remember ... so the option settings should be for the whole turn if we were playing standard rules ... it needs some thinking about >Even with damage-wrapping, it will do 8 damage, forcing an >option to be destroyed. Mine layer was the last option, but >Toby was nice and used Mech Arm. THEN phase #1 starts, and >the shield absorbs 1 damage from Cliff. >Shield can't both absorb 1 damage AND deflect it. cliffhanger didnt shoot blighted .. turret was pointing north .. >Shield damage-wrapping is confusing.... especially in crazy >situations... makes my head spin thinking about it.... i agree .. we'll let Toby try and deal with it for this round and i'll trial a few alternatives for him for round 4. ----
